Tino “Ti2daNO” Mandindo got into music at the tender age of 7 around 1985 as a singer/dancer/songwriter.
He was influenced a lot by his uncles Beven (Bev), Panganai (King Poco), Nhamo (Nhamost), who played a lot of jazz, disco, mbaqanga, rhythm and blues and soul music. His other uncle George (Georgie in the afternoon 1-4 pm on Kaya FM Mon- Fri) Munnetsi had so many vynils so when Ti2daNO would go visit him he would make mix tapes (The Double M Collection) for friends at school that was around 1989.
By 1997 he was the youngest D jay playing on Yeoville’s famous Rockey Street. The following year he enrolled at Wits Tech Auckland Park to further his studies. Even though he had officially stopped spinning the decks he featured in some parties that he helped organize.
In 2001 he managed Jonas Gwangwa on his first gold selling and SAMA award winning album “Sounds from Exile”.
In 2003 he met up with Kopano Sofute, Kabelo Mabale, Bryan Tshabalala and they started making beats in a make shift studio inside Ekhaya Pub and Restaurant. They hooked with Vusi Chiliza who brought his keyboard knowledge to the team and Mainswitch Productions was born.
In 2006 during a Y.M.G.W. recording session at Mainswitch Studios he met up with Playa Dazz and Big Hit. The guys started talking and they found out that Ti2daNo used to be a D jay, Dazz then convinced this old school d jay to buy a cd bag……….. And the mix master inside him woke up after a TEN-year sleep!!!!
